Fiona Keane, an incredibly gifted singer- songwriter and an example of some of the amazing talent we have around Westport. Since setting up this open mic night, we’ve been overwhelmed by the high level of songwriting and performers here in Mayo. Always something special and you each time. I felt painfully so for a couple of years, needing nothing short of a miracle to get me unstuck. Through serendipity I met Fiona who adeptly supported me to miraculously turn my situation around.
After a couple of hours conversation with her, over as few weeks, I started creating more than I had done in the previous 2 years. “Facilitator Fiona Keane wrote and directed Lucky Town with MYT in 2016, the production took place in Ballina Arts Centre. Fiona and the participants of Mayo Youth Theatre, threw their hearts into the production. There are numerous roles in the production to suit multiple actors, there is live music and song. The participants thoroughly enjoyed the process and were delighted with their performance and learned greatly from the production. We also got to see the production from a fresh perspective when Fiona produced Lucky Town, in Westport with a talented group of teenagers. Again the hard work and dedication was evident and the undeniable talent of the cast was evident. (Mayo Youth Theatre (MYT) is an initiative of Mayo County Council and hosted by Ballina Arts Centre.
